Wimbledon 2012 Odds

Wimbledon 2011 proved to be an entertaining spectacle. And for Novak Djokovic, victory couldn’t have tasted any sweeter. The 24-year-old tennis sensation triumphed over former world number one player Rafael Nadal, in a four-set thriller. The final score had Djokovic winning 6-4, 6-1, 1-6 and 6-3. With the exception of the 3rd set, Djokovic dominated the final match with aplomb. The victory catapulted Novak Djokovic to #1 in the world and he received a pretty penny for his efforts too. 2011 was a spectacular year for the Serbian player, with victories in both the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

That 2 of the 4 Grand Slams are already under his belt in addition to a semi-final berth at the French Open at Roland Garos, is quite an achievement. For Rafael Nadal though, his star power seems to be fading somewhat. He played admirably to keep up with the furious pace and accuracy of a rampant Djokovic, but it wasn’t to be. A series of niggling injuries have plagued him all summer long and a 2nd place finish was certainly a just reward for his stellar run-of-form to date which included 20 victories on the trot at this grass-court championship tourney.
